Prop / Weapon Policy

  • - ALL costume weapons/ props must be inspected at the security check area at the main entrance. Security will thoroughly inspect and mark weapons of any kind to ensure that they are safe and inoperable. Cheyenne Comic Con reserves the right to inspect all weapons and props on an individual basis in order to ensure that the event remains completely safe and family-friendly for all attendees. Those who violate these rules assume all responsibility in the event of injury and could face legal actions.
  • - Weapons that are brought in that are not approved or approved items that have security seals removed may be confiscated and turned over to law enforcement. Do not display your weapons/ props in a threatening manner (Deadpools!!!). This is a family friendly nerd zone… let’s keep it safe!
  • - All weapons must be easily distinguishable from real weapons and must be constructed from safe, lightweight material. Approved materials are: rubber, plastic, foam, cardboard and papier-mâché. This being said they must conform to all establishment, local, county and federal laws.
  • - Keep prop weapons in convention areas. If you leave the premises or go out into public for any reason, please put away any and all prop weaponry immediately.
  • - All prop/costume weapons purchased at the convention must be approved by Cheyenne Comic Con security if they are to be carried during the convention. These items must also adhere to the weapons policy.
  • - Keep prop weapons in Cheyenne Comic Con approved areas. If you leave the premises or go out into public for any reason, please put away any and all prop weaponry immediately. People in the community may not understand and call the police. Please be smart!
  • - After each weapon/ prop has been checked, it will be tagged by security personnel. Once your weapon(s) have been inspected, do not remove the tag for any reason, this could result in an issue for you. All prop firearms must be incapable of firing projectiles and have an orange cap on the barrel. If you don’t have one you will be required to mark or modify your weapon so it complies before entry. NERF guns are allowed but they will be zip tied in a way that they can’t operate. Projectiles or any type of ammunition are forbidden. BB guns, paintball guns, dart guns, blow guns, sling shots and water guns and their accompanying ammunition will NOT be permitted. Any attempt to bring these on the grounds will in removal and potential legal issues.
  • - Plastic air-soft guns are permitted with several requirements: No ammunition or projectiles of any kind will be allowed. Air-soft guns must be rendered completely inoperable beforehand, that is the gun shall not have any batteries installed, nor gas/propellant in the chamber and the chamber must be filled with wax or similar material. All air-soft guns must have a clearly visible orange tip on the barrel. . If you don’t have one you will be required to mark or modify your weapon so it complies before entry. All air-soft guns will be marked by security at entrance and have their triggers zip-tied to ensure that the gun is incapable of firing. Please don’t undo this after you get in, you will be removed from the con and not allowed to return.
  • - Costume swords/daggers made from approved materials are allowed, but may not have any sharp edges or be capable of modification after entrance. Wooden swords are allowed, but must be tied to your costume in such a way that they cannot be drawn or unsheathed. Security will zip-tie swords to their sheaths to ensure that they cannot be drawn. If they can’t be secured in this manner they can’t come onto the grounds or into Cheyenne Comic Com. If you wish to draw your sword to pose for a picture, it must be made of approved materials. Metal blades are not allowed, whether they are sheathed or not and will be denied or confiscated.
  • What’s not allowed?

  • - Any real firearm or weapons such as knives. It doesn’t matter if you have a concealed weapons permit, no real firearms are allowed on CFD grounds or at Cheyenne Comic con. Leave your guns and knives at home.
  • - Tasers, stun guns, mace or pepper spray.
  • - Metal weapons of any kind are forbidden, including hammers, scissors (including “safety scissors”), Metal scissor hands/ Freddy Kruger Gloves, Axes, screwdrivers, saws, spears, chains, nun-chucks, brass knuckles, maces, batons, shields ( with sharp or jagged edges), X-Men-style claws, handcuffs, barbed wire/ razor wire and other weapons through the ages that may have been missed that are inherently dangerous. This includes things as metal swords, knifes, razors, shives or blades of any kind. If you have any of these types of weapons with your costume, please make sure they are made out of approved materials or they will be confiscated by security personnel and turned over to law enforcement. We don’t want to limit your cosplay but we need to keep it safe.
  • - Bows or crossbows that are functional. If they can be locked out and rendered safe they can come in. Arrows are allowed in quivers if they do not have metal tips and cannot be fired. Arrows will be zip tied together to ensure they can’t be fired.

If you do not want to have your costume weapons inspected and tagged or if you are unwilling to comply with these policies, please leave them at home. Failure to willingly comply with Cheyenne Comic Con’s official cosplay rules and weapons policy may result in ejection from the convention (without a refund) and/or potential legal action, if necessary.
